i couldn’t agree more with you love this and love raising my two little rough balls of energy ? bring back the days where boys being boys playing in dirt wrestling diging holes collecting bugs (although i hate the critter bit ) didn’t have the label of being “ toxic masculinity “

I never took that phrase to mean “boys will be energetic” or “boys will be curious.” It’s usually linked to bad behavior.

Example: Girl has sex at age 14. She’s a slut. She’s in trouble with mom and dad.
Boy has sex at age 14. Mom freaks out. Dad and grandma say, “Boys will be boys.”

Example: Boy gets angry and punches a hole in the wall. Boys will be boys.
Boys get into fist fights. Boys will be boys.

Thank you for this and for speaking out with what you feel and believe. So many of us feel the same way but I agree with you that society’s new “accepted thinking” has shifted. I have two girls 9 & 7 and a 3 year old son. Oh goodness is he different from my girls and boy do I love every bit of the excitement! I love the calmness and silliness my girls bring but I also love seeing my little boy jump off the sofas bc he thinks he’s flying….. Oh and let’s not forget me getting shot and chased around the kitchen island all day bc he’s a ghostbuster and I’m the marshmallow man or slimer lol!!

Love this! As a new boy mom I’m really starting to see this little man’s personality and curiosity and it is fun to watch him 🙂
