Welcome to day 1 of the Bond with Your Son Challenge!
Today you will focus on building your son up by focusing on the words you say.
Our sons are faced with negative voices everywhere they turn, especially if they are old enough to be out of the house for any period of time.
Unfortunately, the world doesn’t care one bit about building your son’s self esteem. That is why as a mom, you need to be responsible for helping to fill your son’s bucket of self worth each day.
Here are some tips to helping build your son’s confidence.
Today, you will focus on the words that you say and find simple ways to let your son know you love him.
Look over the list of his strengths and the things you love about him that you made yesterday. What did you write down? Share those things with him. He needs to hear what you love about him and that you are proud of him.
You could send a text message to an older son or print off one of these lunch box notes to surprise your younger boys with at school. (You get these free as a member of The Joys of Boys Club. Make sure you are logged in and you can download them.)
You can even leave a note under their pillow or on their mirror letting them know how you feel about them.
Try to start a habit of telling your son something you love or admire about him each day.
Your challenge today is to choose one way to build and connect with your son by sharing something positive that you love about him. Then try to make it a habit to say something positive every day.
Let me know how it goes! Hop over to The Joys of Boys Club Facebook Group and share how you showed your son love today.
P.S. A fun way to keep this challenge going is by starting a Mother/Son journal. Either use a plain notebook or a Mother/Son bonding journal with prompts. You can take a couple of minutes each day to build your bond with your son as you pass the journal back and forth asking each other questions. You will love how your son begins to open up to you and when the journal is finished you will have a keepsake that you will cherish throughout your life.
