Life can be so busy that it can be difficult to get the family together in the same place, at the same time. Our family sets aside one night a week for family night where we can discuss family matters and teach our children faith-based principles, without the distractions of technology, sports, music lessons, etc. Buddy Box subscription is a fun monthly care package that makes it easy to teach Bible principles in a way that kids can understand.

The Buddy Box that we received was called Fright Takes Flight and Pat the Bat taught kids that life can be filled with dark and scary stuff, but through faith, they can learn not to be afraid.
Our box included some wind up chattering teeth, because sometimes when you are afraid, your teeth chatter. We wound it up and put it on a poster of different things that kids might be afraid of. When it stopped chattering, we would discuss what to do when you are afraid of certain situations such as being sick, bad dreams or being alone.
We also made “boats” out of clay and put them in water to see if they would sink or float. Most of them sunk. We then discussed Mark 6:45-52 where Jesus walked on the water. If a little boat of clay couldn’t even float on the water, then it really was a miracle that Jesus could. The story encouraged kids to find other stories of miracles in the Bible to help remind them that with faith they can do amazing things.
I think my boys’ favorite thing was the High Flyer. One way to make “fright take flight” is by prayer. You send scary stuff soaring away when you pray and the high flyer represented prayer.
