For our last weekend before school started we had the chance to visit the DISCOVERY Children’s Museum in Las Vegas. I received tickets to visit the museum and the traveling exhibit Dinosaurs: Land of Fire and Ice exhibit, and knew that my boys would love it.
The DISCOVERY Children’s museum is a perfect blend of fun and learning, and in reality, kids don’t even realize how much they are learning while they are having fun. My boys had a great time climbing up to the top of the museum through a series of ladders and tunnels with level after level of educational activities. They even got to experience a hurricane simulator with winds up to 85 mph. They thought it was great!
Now through Sept 16th, the museum has a traveling exhibit, Dinosaurs: Land of Fire and Ice. We loved the touchable dinosaurs of all shapes and sizes, including a Tyrannosaurs Rex and a Triceratops, digging for dinosaur bones, making fossil impressions, exploring caves and dressing up as giant bugs!
The water room was also a huge hit. I think we could have stayed in there the entire day and my boys wouldn’t have been tired of it. There were several activities and fun things to do with water. The room has ponchos that the kids can put on but my boys were too busy having fun. They did get a bit wet but dried really quickly. Plus, there were dryers for anyone who needed them.
We spent several hours at the museum exploring and enjoying the different exhibits. Each level of the museum had different types of hands-on learning. We loved the marketplace where kids can build houses, repair a car, shop for groceries, take care of animals and more. And the art and building exhibits were a hit. There are several places that kids can build or design something and then test it out or even take it home.
We had a great time at the Discovery Children’s Museum and my boys are begging to go again!
