I love making easy Christmas ornaments with my boys and these Easy Candy Cane Ornaments can be made in just minutes.
Candy Cane Ornaments
And the countdown is on! One week until Christmas. My boys can hardly contain their excitement and it is everything they talk about. I love making crafts and treats with my boys but this time of year is SO busy and my sanity is important to me. 🙂 So, we have been having a lot of fun making some simple crafts, ornaments and treats. Earlier this week I shared Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ornaments and these Candy Cane Ornaments are not only simple but they are a great way for kids to practice fine motor skills.
Supplies needed:
All you need for this is some fuzzy craft sticks and red and white colored craft beads. I received these supplies from CraftProjectIdeas.com but you can find them at Walmart or at any craft store.
Step one: Cut the fuzzy sticks to whatever length you want your candy canes to be. We made a variety of different sizes.
Step two: Thread one bead onto the fuzzy stick and wrap the end of the fuzzy stick around the bead to hold them on.
Step three: Start threading the red and white beads on by rotating colors.
I LOVE this picture! It makes me laugh to see how hard he was concentrating on getting his beads put on.
Step four: Leave enough room at the end of the stick to bend it over the final bead to hold it in place.
Step five: Fold the top over and shape it into a candy cane.
These candy cane ornaments would also be an easy craft to make for church or school Christmas parties since most kids would be able to make them by themselves and there is no paint or glue involved.
