I love surprising my boys on Valentine’s Day. Last year I made these fun Love Bug Valentines, which were a very easy Valentine’s Day treat, and left them by their bedroom door for them to find in the morning. They were a huge hit!

Love Bug Valentines
When I made these, I figured nearly all boys like bugs and my boys are no exception. And since white chocolate covered pretzels are my absolute favorite treat, I knew these Love Bug Valentines would be a hit.
Ingredients needed:
- Pretzels
- Black Licorice
- A variety of candy and sprinkles to decorate
- White Chocolate
To make:
- Heat the white chocolate in the microwave until smooth, stirring every 30 -60 seconds to prevent scorching.
- While chocolate is smooth, cover pretzels with white chocolate using a spoon. Hold over the bowl to allow excess chocolate to drip off and then lay on a piece of wax or parchment paper.
- While chocolate is cooling decorate with candy and sprinkles of your choice and cut the licorice into small strips for the antennae. Make sure to decorate them before the chocolate hardens.
I bagged up a few of the pretzels and found some cute “bug” Valentines and left the little surprise by their bedroom. They were thrilled with their Love Bugs. I haven’t been able to locate a place to purchase these exact Valentines but there are a variety of different Bug Valentines for Kids online.
Even though Valentine’s Day is often seen as a holiday for girls, I still try and make it fun and special for my boys since I love them with all my heart.
Do you have any fun Valentine’s Day traditions with your kids?
