Think for a minute what you would want to do or be if you had absolutely no fear of failure. Does any thing in particular come to mind? Have you ever felt that you could do amazing things if only you would let yourself give up your comfort zone? I love the above quote. Why is it so hard to step outside the box and challenge ourselves with new things?
As parents, we really try to teach our kids to set big goals and do scary things and we want them to know how great it feels when they accomplish something they didn’t see as possible. But, what if we look at our own lives and realize that we’re living in our own little comfort zone surrounded by a bubble of fear and mediocrity. If we could just pop that bubble we could allow excitement, confidence, passion and a feeling of fulfillment in.
In my life, the times that I have challenged my comfort zone and pushed myself to do things that I wouldn’t normally have done have been really scary but afterwards the feeling is awesome! This post is for me as much as anyone because it is something that I struggle with on a daily basis as well. I believe that each and every person has an amazing and unique gift they could share with the world if they only had the courage to take the first step.
I found the following poem and wanted to share it with you just in case you might be struggling with stepping outside your comfort zone and embracing the wonderful person that you are. I thought it was great and hope you like it!
The Comfort Zone
Author Unknown
I used to have a comfort zone where I knew I couldn’t fail,
The same four walls of busy work were really more like a jail.
I longed so much to do the things I’d never done before,
But I stayed inside my comfort zone and paced the same old floor.
I said it didn’t matter that I wasn’t doing much,
I said I didn’t care for things like diamonds, furs and such.
I claimed to be so busy with the things inside my zone,
But deep inside I longed for something special of my own.
I couldn’t let my life go by just watching others win,
I held my breath and stepped outside to let the change begin.
I took a step and with new strength I’d never felt before,
I kissed my comfort zone goodbye and closed and locked the door.
If you are in a comfort zone afraid to venture out,
Remember that all winners were at one time filled with doubt.
A step or two and words of praise can make your dreams come true.
Greet your future with a smile, success is there for you!
I challenge you to do something today, just one thing, that takes you a step outside of your comfort zone. It might be hard and it might be scary but those little steps will lead to bigger and better things and before long you will look back and not be able to recognize that person you once were. Good luck! You can do it!

Thanks for sharing! I often find myself just needing to get over my fears and get out of my comfort zone. At least I feel like I do better at it than I used to. 🙂
