No-Sew Fleece Blanket
We have been having much colder-than-normal temperatures (which most of the country wouldn’t consider that bad) but because of that, we desert-rats have been freezing. My son received a Fleece Blanket Kit for his birthday and we realized just how easy it is to make your own no-sew fleece blanket. My son loved that he could make this all by himself and this would be a perfect homemade gift for kids to make.
All you need is two pieces of fleece, cut to any size you want. Make sure it is about two inches larger than you want the final blanket because you will be cutting the edges.
Line up the fabric on top of each other. Every inch, cut a slit into both pieces of fabric about 3 inches long. Start with 3 inches but if you have a hard time tying it, then you can cut them longer. We found the two sides of the fabric were stretchy and easy to tie, while the other two sides were not and we had to cut them longer.
Once you have cut the strips, start at one side and tie the two pieces of fleece strips together like you are tying a balloon. Work your way around the entire blanket and you will find that in each of the corners you will need to cut off a square of fabric where the strips come in contact.Once you have made it all the way around, you are done! The fleece sticks to itself and holds together but if you want you can sew an X through the center. We didn’t have any problems with it coming apart so we left it as is.
Yes, I think he likes it! He pretty much hasn’t taken it off all week long.
