When I was young my grandma would give us books for every birthday and Christmas and on several occasions in between. She continued that tradition with my boys until she passed away. Books are a huge part of our life and I started reading to my boys as soon as I possibly could. We also love that different reading apps for kids make it so we can take books and stories with us wherever we go. Our favorite reading app for kids is Speakaboos.
Speakaboos: Reading App for Kids
My youngest just turned four and is home with me during the day while his brothers are at school. It can be challenging to keep him entertained at times. Our kids live in a world of technology that we couldn’t have imagined when we were young. Instead of avoiding technology, I’ve tried to embrace it with my boys by providing them with websites and apps that are not only entertaining but educational and setting up screen time limits. When my youngest asks to play a game online, I’m glad that we have educational reading apps like Speakaboos, that I can feel good about sharing with him.
Speakaboos is a reading app for kids ages 2-6 that has over 200 stories! The app is fun and engaging and has some of my son’s favorite characters such as Elmo and Thomas the Train. I have been working with my son and teaching him to read simple words, but Speakaboos is a fun way to help kids gain a love of reading from a really young age.
What Kinds of Books Can You Find on Speakaboos?
My son loved the books about animals the most! He loves clicking through and learning about dogs, horses, ducks, geese, cows and more and I love that the website and app interact with him.
There are categories for pretty much any interest including Vehicles, Robots, Animals, Dinosaurs, Princesses, Bugs and more. Speakaboos also has unique stories that will be new to your children, as well as some of the classics we grew up with such as Three Little Pigs, Jack and the Beanstalk and Rapunzel.
I am excited to be bringing Speakaboos with us on all of our summer travels. It is really hard to entertain young kids while traveling and Speakaboos gives me an option that I can feel good about my son playing with. Plus, it is a great way to keep kids learning over the summer.
Where can I find Speakaboos?

I have just begun allowing my son to play games on the computer. He is only allowed educational games and he knows that. This would give him something else with a variety.
