If you are looking for an easy way for your family to give back this Christmas and throughout the year, you can easily say thank you to a veteran with cookies and donate to charity at the same time. Katy’s Goodness is providing an easy way for families to give back to America’s veterans.
Christmas is one week away! Can you believe that? I have been so busy that it feels like it has crept up on me this year. The holiday season is supposed to be a time of giving, reflection and family, but it is really easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle and forget the main reasons we celebrate.
Every year my boys make their Christmas lists of the things they are hoping to see under the tree on Christmas morning. But, I try and teach my boys that giving is far greater than receiving and we look for simple ways to give to those who are less fortunate than we are. I love finding things that my boys can personally get involved in.
I recently learned about Katy’s Goodness, which is a company that supports our nations veterans through their initiative “Thank a Deserving Veteran.” This initiative will deliver care packages to two million military veterans and donate up to 3 million to veteran support organizations this year.
Now through Veterans’ Day 2015 you can thank a veteran by sending them a Katy’s Goodness Cookie Care Package. A cookie care package contains six packages of Katy’s Goodness cookies, a thank you card and printed information on organizations that support America’s military veteran community with housing, jobs, education and medical services. The packages cost $30 and once a package is purchased, Katy’s Goodness will automatically ship the package to a military veteran as an anonymous gift.
For every purchase, proceeds will be donated to Easter Seals, Student Veterans of America, Warriors in the Workplace and Support Military Foundation.
Veteran’s Day is one of our favorite days of the year because of the Veteran’s Day parade that goes through our small town. Every year as I watch the few remaining WWII Veterans ride through the parade, I can’t even start to comprehend the things that they did and saw during their service of not only our country but the countries of the world. We have so much to be thankful for that we can directly link back to the service of America’s men and women in uniform.
We got to try out some of the cookies and I think you can tell that someone was excited for the Chocolate Hazelnut cookies!
I love that the cookies are all-natural, 100% whole grain and high in protein and fiber. And they taste good!
So if your family is looking for a simple way you can give back during the holidays, you can easily send a cookie care package to brighten a military veteran’s holiday season and let them know how much we appreciate their service.
