Keep All Electronics in Public Areas of the House
We have a house rule that all electronics have to stay in public areas of the house. Phones, laptops, ipads, etc are not allowed in bedrooms and behind closed doors. We have a charging area for my son’s phone and tablet downstairs where he places it each night to charge it.

Talk to Your Children About Social Media and Internet
We have to be open with our children about the dangers of social media and the internet. It’s not a matter of if, but a matter of when they come across something inappropriate or scary and they need to know what to do if they find themself in that type of situation. Teach them to come to you and tell you what happened

Teach Kids to Never Give Out Personal Information Online
The online world is full of people with bad intentions. As a small town girl, I like to think that people are generally good and it can be easy to be too trusting. But there are people out there just waiting to get a bit of personal information from your child. Teach them to never give out their name, address, the school they attend, phone number, or any other personal informatino that if in the wrong hands could be dangerous for your family.

Limit the Amount of Screentime Children Get Each Day|
We have set hours that the internet is turned off and our kids are not allowed on devices. Cujo makes that easy because with the push of a button the WIFI to the entire house is turned off and my boys tablets and even our TV are turned off immediately. It is definitely easier than trying to persuade them to turn them off on their own.

Secure Your Internet
I believe that talking to our kids about the dangers and expectations we have for them on the internet is very important but I’m also a huge believer in doing what little extra we can to secure our internet for them. CUJO is a device that can help keep your entire wireless network protected.
-
CUJO is a smart firewall that is designed to bring the type of security businesses use into your own home. CUJO can secure all devices that are connected to it through a WiFi router. CUJO detects and blocks malicious sites, viruses, and hacks and is like antivirus for your entire network. Plus, you can set parental controls for the type of content your children are allowed to see online as well as set time limits from your phone.
I love being able to pause the internet at dinner time or when it is time to get ready for bed. And CUJO will alert you right away if there is a malicious website or a problem. And I love that I get all of the information sent directly to the CUJO app on my phone.
Raising children in a digital world can be so tricky, and I’m always thankful for any tips, tricks and devices to help me get through.
