I love everything pumpkin flavored and these Pumpkin Spice Donuts are the perfect treat to welcome Fall this year.
Pumpkin Spice Donuts
Fall has always been my favorite time of year. When we moved to the desert a few years back I realized just how much I loved fall because I no longer had it. We have 3 seasons: hot, really hot and less hot. 🙂 But one of my favorite things about Fall is the smell of pumpkin pie, bread, cookies, etc and so to bring a little bit of Fall into my life I bake treats like Baked Pumpkin Spice Donuts.
We originally made these a couple of years ago and I can’t believe how little he looks! As always, I had plenty of kitchen help. Whenever I start baking my boys push anything they can find over to stand on and “help”. But how could I refuse this face? (And, yes, I’m very aware that he needed a haircut. 🙂 )
Baked Pumpkin Spice Donuts
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 2 1/2 cups sugar (divided)
- 1 1/2 cups canned pumpkin
- 2 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice (divided)
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 3/4 cups + 2 tbls flour
- 1/2 cup butter melted
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350° if using a standard Donut Pan. I used my Babycakes Donut Maker and just had to plug it in. 😉 Lightly grease the pans.
- Beat together the oil, eggs, 1 1/2 cups of sugar, pumpkin, 1 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice, salt, and baking powder until smooth.
- Add the flour and stir just until smooth.
- Fill the wells of the donut pans about 3/4 full. I used my Pampered Chef Easy Accent Decorator or us could use any cake decorating bags
- Bake the donuts for 15-18 minutes or until lightly browned. If using the Babycakes Donut Maker it only takes 3-5 minutes.
- Remove the pumpkin spice donuts from the oven and after about 5 minutes transfer them to a rack to cool. With Babycakes, remove right away.
- Microwave butter until melted in microwave safe bowl.
- In another bowl mix 1 C of sugar with 1 tsp of Pumpkin Pie spice.
- Roll warm donuts in butter and then coat with Sugar/spice mixture.
- Enjoy while warm or let cool. Either way they are yummy!

Stopping by from Party Palooza, and this recipe looks so good, I really need to get one of those cool bakers!

Anybody have a suggestion for baking these without a donut pan of any sort??? What about just doing them as muffins??? Or would they do better as pancakes on a griddle? Help a sister with no donut pans out! 🙂 Looks like a simple enough recipe and looks delicious.
Kara says
Yes, they can be made as muffins. Just bake for around 23-25 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Then dip them in butter and then the sugar mixture. Yum!
Karen Goodman says
Thanks for showing the picture of the donut maker…it almost makes me one to get one, but I live alone so I would end up eating way too many sweets!
