If you have kids, then it’s safe to say that you have toys. These DIY Toy Storage Containers are a fun way to keep all of those toys organized and stored away.
DIY Toy Storage Containers
Having little boys in the home means having lots of cars, planes, trucks, dinosaurs, blocks and lots more lying around the home. Sure you can just throw them into a basket and wait for them to be dumped out all over the floor or you can store them in style.
I always save our leftover plastic and glass containers with the intent of doing something amazing with them. I took a Cheetos container and a pretzel container and created the more perfect storage solution for boys. Best of all these can be used in the bedroom or playroom and you can choose any topper and color you want to fit your home décor.
How to Make DIY Toy Storage Containers
What you need:
- Plastic or Glass Containers
- Plastic Animals (Found at Dollar Tree)
- Spray Paint
- E6000 Glue
Directions:
Remove the lids from your containers and lay on a flat surface. Remove your animal from all packaging and apply E6000 Glue to the bottom of their feet. Firmly press the animal down onto the lid and hold in place for 1 minute, than allow to dry for at least 15 minutes.
Next set your lid on a flat surface and get your spray paint ready. It’s going to take 2 coats of spray paint to completely cover the animal and lid and should be done in two steps. Apply your first coat and allow to dry for 10 minutes, then go back over and apply a second coat and allow to dry for 20 minutes. Once it’s dry you can place it back on the container.
We filled up our containers with mega blocks, cars and animals. I really hope you enjoyed this super easy storage tutorial for boys!

That’s such a cool idea! Thanks for sharing! I use the plastic three drawer cabinets you can buy at WalMart. I label the outside of the drawer so we know where the toys go at clean up time.
