Did you know that September 19th is National Talk Like a Pirate Day? I don’t know who came up with that day but I can guarantee that we’ll be having a lot of fun with it at our house. We made these simple Pirate Pancakes for a fun and easy way to acknowledge the day.
Pirate Pancakes
We really love making fun but simple breakfast food at our house. And, what would be more fun for my boys on National Talk Like a Pirate Day than Pirate Pancakes? These Pirate Pancakes were super popular with my 4 buccaneers.
Ingredients:
- Your favorite pancake mix. I used a yummy (and healthy) recipe for Blender Oatmeal Pancakes from Maybe I Will.
- Strawberries
- Bananas
- Mini-chocolate chips
- Chocolate Chips
- Chocolate wafer cookies
Step 1: Mix up your pancake mix and pour into large ovals on a warm (not hot) griddle that has been sprayed or wiped with oil. I always use a warm griddle when I am making fun pancakes because otherwise they will turn brown too quickly and it is hard to see the different features.
Step 2: Slice the strawberries and arrange onto the pancake in the shape of a bandanna.
Step 3: Split one of the chocolate wafer cookies in half to use for the eye patch. Arrange the mini-chocolate chips for the tie that holds it on.
Step 4: Slice a banana for the eye and add the chocolate chip. Add one more chocolate chip for the nose.
Step 5: Cut one more strawberry into a mouth and you have a scurvy pirate.
Happy Talk Like a Pirate Day! Arrrgghhh!
These Pirate Suckers would also be great for National Talk Like a Pirate Day:
Also every bucaneer needs the right pirate gear. This pirate dressup costume is SO cute!
