Any type of change or new situation can cause children to feel the jitters. This Super Hero Lunch is designed to help them feel brave and courageous so they can feel “SUPER” as they face new situations.
Super Hero Lunch
Every child deals with new situations differently. One of my boys makes new friends in 5 seconds flat and has never had a hard time with new things, but my other boys always took longer to adjust to new situations. My youngest just started preschool and he has always been a mama’s boy. I was curious to see how he would do in preschool since he typically clings to my side when we go places. We talked a lot about being brave at school before he went and I prepared him with a fun Super Hero Lunch.
How to make a Super Hero Lunch
This super hero lunch was “super” easy to make. 😉
We love MARVEL super heroes so I made mini tortilla wrap sandwiches to look like Captain America’s shield.
I used round cookie cutters of different shapes to cut the tortilla and meat. You could also use the top of a glass or other item to get the size of circle that you want. I layered tortilla, ham, cheese, ham and then added a star of cheese on the top. It was fun for my son to wrap these up and eat them. They were just his size!
I also made up some fun Super Hero sayings that I could put on toothpicks to make some fun grape kabobs. Click HERE to print out your own Super Hero Sayings. I also included a MARVEL snack bar. The MARVEL Snack Bars come in all of my boys’ favorite super heroes, such as Captain America, Hulk, Spider Man, Iron Man, Black Widow, and Thor, and they come with 4 collector cards on the back of the packages. I knew my boys would love them.
I found the MARVEL snack bars while browsing the breakfast aisle at Walmart. I love that they are “Super” sized and 40% bigger than most granola bars.
My super hero preschooler had a great first week of preschool and came home today telling me that he was brave and didn’t cry. He even said he loves his new friends! (Way to melt mama’s heart!)
We loved this Super Hero Lunch and hope you have fun sharing this idea with the little super hero in your life.
