I love that Thanksgiving is a holiday that doesn’t require gifts and extra things.  It is simply a time to reflect on and be grateful for the things that we have.  These Gratitude Pumpkins are a great craft to help kids remember to be thankful for the things that they have. Gratitude Pumpkins I’ll admit that Christmastime is my favorite time of the year.  I love the music, the smells, the treats and the general feeling that comes with the season. As much as I love Christmas,  I also love that we have a holiday that is solely based on giving gratitude for the many blessings that we have and I want my children to take the time to recognize that they have so much to be thankful for before they start making lists of toys and treats that they hope to see on Christmas morning. […]

Thankfulness Chain: Thanksgiving Activity

This Thankfulness Chain is a new tradition we are using in our family to help us remember and show appreciation for the things we are thankful for. I love Thanksgiving activities and this one keeps going all month long. Thankfulness Chain I think I am one of the few people who still wait until after Thanksgiving to start decorating for Christmas but I just love Thanksgiving too much to let it get passed over.  Maybe it is because I love Fall so much and have missed it since moving to Nevada or maybe I just like that Thanksgiving gives us a time to think about what we already have and show thankfulness without all the hype that a lot of other holidays have. […]

Country Raisin Gingersnaps

The Best Holiday Cookies Ever! This week I have the awesome opportunity to be part of an online cookie exchange thanks to the SITS girls so I chose to share my absolute favorite cookie recipe, Country Raisin Gingersnaps.   I make lots and lots of cookies and I have probably tried a hundred or so different recipes over the years but these have always been my favorite. The only problem with them is I’ve been eating them NON-STOP since I made them. They are  full of yummy spices that make these the perfect holiday cookie and the best part is they are SOFT gingersnaps.  Yummy!  My boys don’t normally like things with raisins but they love these cookies! MMMmmmmmm……Just looking at that picture makes me want another.  (I won’t eat another cookie, I won’t eat another cookie…) […]
