Halloween is a time for making spooky food and we love making fun pancake creations. These Frankenstein pancakes will be a huge hit with any kid. Not too scary, and tons of fun to eat!
Frankenstein Pancakes
It’s that time of year again!! Hurray, I survived another brutal Nevada summer. The days and especially nights are beginning to cool off. Fall is my absolute favorite time of year! I still miss the changing leaves and the crisp morning air like I had growing up in Utah, but Fall is still in the air. My boys love decorating for Halloween and we love making Halloween food together. We started this year off with a bang with these fun and spooky Frankenstein Pancakes.
We love making fun pancakes around here and the holidays wouldn’t be the same without them. These literally took just a couple of minutes to make and were a huge hit. We have made these a few different times now and each time they looked a bit different.
How to Make Frankenstein Pancakes
Step 1: Mix up your favorite pancake batter and add enough green food coloring to get your desired shade of green.
Step 2: Pour the batter onto a hot griddle in the shape of a Frankenstein head. I tried to go for a rectangle. Cook until just browned on each side. Don’t cook too long or you will lose the green color and they will be brown.
Step 3: Slice bananas for the eyes and add chocolate chips for eyes, nose, eye brows and mouth.
Step 4: Add some raisins for the hair.
Step 5: Add black grapes or gum drops for the bolts (Is that what they are? You know those things that stick out of the side of his neck?)
Step 6: Serve with syrup. yum!
And there you have it! SPOOKY! Yet delicious!
Below was our first attempt at Frankenstein pancakes. He looks a little meaner due to his eyebrows.
What is your favorite Fall/Halloween tradition?

Personally, I think the black licorice gumdrops are brilliant – aesthetic, and I know of NO child that likes black licorice, so no worries on the sugar intake!! Please, I STILL don’t like black licorice! (EW!) This is super cute, and I think things like this once in a while go a long way in the “fun mommy” category of kid’s memories. 🙂

I know, right? I thought I was in the clear with the candy for breakfast until my baby of all people grabbed the gumdrops off his brothers plates and chowed down with one in each cheek. I couldn’t believe he liked them. 🙂
Cute cute cute! These are super fun, Kara! 🙂
Thank you Sky! You’ll have to let me know if you make them for your boys. 🙂
