If you don’t live in a snowy place and your kids are feeling envious of the snow or it’s just too darn cold to go outside, make your own homemade snow! It’s simple, fun and will provide hours of entertainment.
How to Make Homemade Snow
There is something so special about snow. The way it looks when you look out the window. The way it feels in your hands. And kids LOVE snow!
Although, if you live where it snows constantly, you may not find snow as special as some people. I figured there are people out there who don’t get to see and feel snow like we do. That’s where homemade snow comes in. Kids will love getting to feel and touch snow, without freezing! Check out how you can make homemade snow, right in the warmth of your own home.
Make Homemade Snow
My recipe is super simple! The only thing you’re going to need is baking soda and shaving cream! These may be two items that you already have in your cupboard. Grab both ingredients and a metal bowl.
For this recipe, you simply need one cup of baking soda and one cup of shaving cream. You will take both ingredients and mix them up with a fork until you see the consistency become more snow like! Keep in mind that you may need a little bit of more than the other to get the right consistency. Slowly add in more shaving cream or more baking soda as needed.
This is the step where you can start squishing it around. I let the kids do this part because it’s the most fun. I’m telling you that the way the snow feels is so fun! Make sure you go ahead and feel the homemade snow yourself.
Now this is where the fun really starts! You can let the kids play until their heart’s content. I’m sure the kids are going to LOVE playing in this snow. This craft is great for kids who may not be able to go outside. I also love that kids who may not be able to get their hands on snow can make it right at home.
I am pretty sure this has to be the easiest craft known to mankind as well. And it’s also very inexpensive, which makes it even better! I hope you give this Homemade Snow craft a try and let me know what you think. I think you’re going to love it.

How long does the snow last and do you just store it in an airtight container?
If you store it in an airtight container, it should last a long time. You just don’t want it to dry out.
