Summer Day Camp: Stained Glass Painting

Today is the last day of our Summer Day Camp series.  I can’t believe that it is already time for the kids to head back to school.  I know a lot of you have already sent the kids out the door but for those who are still looking for some last minute boredom busters, here is a fun idea for Stained Glass Painting from Emily at The Benson Street. Build Your Own Tank Craft Giveaway!

I cannot tell you how excited my boys were to open a box from the mail and find this fun Build Your Own Tank craft from CraftProjectIdeas.com!  They were starting to get a major case of end-of-summer boredom and they went right to work building their tank. I have been really busy the past month preparing for some major exams and my boys were starting to get sick of me being unavailable for the types of projects we normally do so this couldn’t have come at a better time. CraftProjectIdeas.com has come out with a fun new line of boy crafts (THANK YOU!) that replace the glitter and girlie you find in most project kits with rockets and camouflage.  If you have followed me for any amount of time you will know that one of the reasons I started this blog was to share more craft ideas for boys. Summer Day Camp: Bleach Tie Dye Shirts

I’m a little late in posting this week’s Summer Day Camp activity.  This one comes from Becky at Patchwork Posse.  This is a fun way to use bleach to tie-dye shirts.  My boys have been wanting to try this since they saw the picture so we’ll have to give it a try.  For instructions on how to make your own shirt visit: Bleach Tie Dye Shirts. […]

Foil River: Fun on a Dime

Need a quick and inexpensive way to entertain your kids this week?  Try making a foil river!  It’s so simple and yet your kids will spend hours racing things down the river. It has been a very hot summer here and I’m starting to run out of ideas for fun ways to entertain my boys and use up some of their extra energy, especially since they are cooped up inside all day.  Anything that involves water and being outside is a luxury, so we took advantage of a cooler morning (you know upper 90’s) and played in the water. How to Make a Foil River […]

Summer Day Camp: Juice Box Boats

I’m so excited to be this week’s Summer Day Camp camp instructor.  If you are new to The Joys of Boys, WELCOME!  I’m so glad you’re here!   I hope you will have a look around and stay for awhile.  To learn a little bit more about me and The Joys of Boys, check out my About Me page. I have been extra busy this summer just trying to keep my boys entertained inside and away from electronics as the temperatures have topped 120° outside.  These juice box boats are an easy and fun craft for any kids to make during the summer and the best part is, unlike other types of boxes, juice boxes float! […]
