I hope you were able to share some positive words with your son during our last challenge. Keep sharing those little notes, texts or affirmations as often as possible.
For today’s challenge, let’s cook up some fun in the kitchen. A way to a boys heart is through his stomach!
My favorite place to make memories with my boys is in the kitchen. Not only do we have a great time interacting, but they are learning an important life skill so they don’t have to live off of PB&J every day after they leave home.
I don’t think our boys are ever too young to start helping in the kitchen. Even toddlers love to mix or pour things into a bowl.
If you are new to having your son help in the kitchen, here are a few tips that will help get him excited about cooking with you.
For today’s challenge, create a simple recipe together.
This can be something as simple as “Ants on a Log” where you cut celery, fill it with peanut butter and add some raisins for the “ants”.
Or make “Dirt Cups” by preparing some instant chocolate pudding, adding some gummy worms and some crushed Oreo cookies on top for the “dirt”.
You can even teach your son to make a grilled cheese sandwich. It doesn’t have to be complicated.
Let your son choose a recipe and make it together.
If you are looking for some fun recipes, here are a few of our favorite easy recipes to make together:
- Pirate Pancakes (What boy wouldn’t love these!)
- Puppy Pancakes Pancakes are one of the simplest things to teach kids to make.
And older boys may enjoy cooking over a fire (with supervision of course!)
Here are our favorite campfire recipes:
It’s also fun to go to the library and look at cookbooks together.
I hope you have a wonderful time creating memories in the kitchen.
Hop over to the Facebook group and share a picture of what you made together! Can’t wait to see it!
