Easy Disney Cars Party

“I received party supplies in order to host a Disney Side @Home Celebration.  All opinions are my own. Post includes affiliate links” We were thrilled to find out that we had been invited to host a Disney Side @Home Celebration and since our theme was Disney’s Cars, I knew it would be perfect for my house of boys.  Showing your Disney side doesn’t have to be complicated and that is why I chose to host an Easy Cars Party with food and activities that any mom could make. Easy Cars Party The cozy little town of Radiator Springs had some colorful characters and I had fun looking at each character for inspiration for our Cars party.  […]

Dump Truck Cake

Dump Truck Cake Whenever one of my boys’ birthdays roll around I always go looking for ideas for birthday cakes for boys.  With my baby’s 2nd birthday coming up (tears! sniff, sniff) I knew exactly what type of cake he would want.  He is completely into anything with wheels so a dump truck cake would be perfect for him. DIY Pool Noodle Goal Post

Last month we threw the Ultimate Sports Party for my now 7-year-old and we had lots of fun using some of the pool noodle activities I shared on the blog last summer as well as this new pool noodle goal post.  I turned to my handy, dandy husband and asked him to come up with some sort of goal post to be used in a field goal kicking competition and this is what he came up with.  (We’re so lucky to have him around. 🙂 ) I’ll try my best to give a good description of how this was made but if I leave something out or don’t explain something very well, leave me a comment and I’ll have my husband answer.  Sound good? Jake and the Neverland Pirates Suckers

After throwing the Ultimate Sports Party a couple of weeks ago we had another birthday to celebrate.  My now 5-year-old has been wanting a Jake and the Neverland Pirates birthday for a long time.  We mostly celebrated with cousins at the park and then just had a friend over to play on his actual birthday so I made these Jake and the Neverland Pirates Suckers for the two of them. I had made some of these for Valentine’s Day when he brought Pirate Suckers to his class but this time we stuck just to the Jake and the Neverland Pirates theme.  Also, check out his pirate ship cake that I posted this week. Pirate Ship Cake

Well after a week of a laptop crash, blog redesign and hosting transfer, I am back!  How do you like the new look?  I’m still working out some of the bugs but I am loving how things turned out. This past week was yet another birthday around here and this time we set sail with Jake and the Neverland Pirates.  I have made this simple pirate ship cake before for one of my older boys so we thought we’d try it again.  I’ve said it before and I will say it again and again, I am NOT a queen of making cakes.  I’ve made a few fun cakes but if I’m going to attempt it, it has to be easy. Ultimate Sports Birthday Party

This past weekend we survived celebrated my son’s 7th birthday party with 14 of his friends.  He loves playing sports and even says he wants to be a professional basketball player when he grows up 😉 so we knew that a Sports Birthday Party was in order. As I showed you last week we made a M&M’s basketball cake for his actual birthday and then had his birthday party at the park on the weekend.  I think I finally got it right this year when i decided to have the party at the park.  It was PERFECT!  Plenty of room for all of the little guys to run around and get crazy without me stressing out about my house.  Why did it take me so long to think of that?  But with the games/activities we had planned we knew a sports birthday party needed to be somewhere with more room to run. […]

Sports Cupcakes

Last week I shared my son’s M&M’s basketball cake that we made for his 7th birthday.  Since his birthday fell during the week we did his sports party with friends this weekend and needed a little treat to give to them.  Of course we thought of sports cupcakes.  I will be sharing all of the fun we had at the party later this week. […]

Basketball DIY Cake Stand

This week I shared my son’s basketball birthday cake and promised to share how to make an easy DIY cake stand. I have a nice, glass cake stand that I normally use for our cakes but I had a specific look in mind.  After looking online for a plain metal cake stand and seeing that everything cost more than I wanted to pay, I decided to make one.  This was the easiest and most inexpensive project I have done in awhile and I got exactly the look I was wanting.
